Constance Babington Smith (1913–2000), pioneer in the craft of photographic interpretation,greatly expanded the usefulness of analytic interpretation during her wartime service in the Aircraft Section of the Allied Central Interpretation Unit. She was the author of Evidence in Camera: The story of Photographic Intelligence in the Second World War (London: Chatto & Windus, 1957)
